This church was built by the Portuguese and elevated to a cathedral by Pope Paul IV in 1558 which is near by St. Francis Church. In 1795 the British people demolished he original structure. In 1887, Bishop Dom Gomez Ferriera commissioned a new structure which was declared as a Basilica in 1984 by Pope John Paul II. The ceiling of the church has fantastic paintings and marked with devotional and religious spirit
